It is a French horn of the brand Alexander Mainz. The type is Alexander 103.
It is not finished with a laque and therefore looks very copperish. Ot has a white pencil attached to it.
The case is brown with a plastic crocodile leather finish. The inside of the case is brown velvet. There is a fabric bag with two types of valve oil in it.

The instrument and a bag as well were left behind on a bridge over the ‘meuse’ near Verdun.
In the neighbourhood there was a statue of WWI of a shouting/yelling man. He looked a bit like Beethoven. It was on a little square with grass if I remember correctly.
